Does Your Partner Think You Have ADHD?

But all you can hear in that statement is …

It’s all MY fault … again!

Does that sound familiar?

It’s exhausting, isn’t it? You’re giving it your all—trying to keep them happy, do the ‘right’ thing, and avoid letting them down. Yet somehow, it feels like no matter what you do, it’s never enough. They’re upset, and you’re left feeling defeated.

But what if I told you this …

It’s not all your fault.

And what if I also told you that there’s another explanation—one that doesn’t blame or minimise your experience?
It’s possible that you may have Adult ADHD.
(And before you worry, let me reassure you—ADHD isn’t all bad! In fact, it comes with some incredible strengths too.)

If ADHD is part of your story, here’s what I already know about you:

  • You’re trying SO HARD to make your partner happy.
  • You DO love them deeply, and you never mean to hurt or upset them.
  • You’re not lazy, dumb, or selfish. ADHD symptoms in adults might just be hijacking your best intentions and creating chaos in your relationship.

Are you open to exploring this possibility? If you’ve made it this far, I’m already impressed—reading about tough topics takes courage.

Let’s take the next step together.

Does This Sound Like You?

If any of the following feels familiar, it might be time to explore a happier, easier way forward with your partner (Definitely not saying it’s all your fault though!).

1. The Emotional Rollercoaster.   Do you often …

  • Feel frustrated or annoyed?
  • Struggle to stay calm during arguments?
  • Walk away (or storm out) because you can’t handle another fight?
  • Feel really hurt and rejected by what others say—or pretend not to care?
  • Ruminate—replaying arguments over and over in your head?
  • Regret things you said or did in the heat of the moment?
  • Experience absolute highs and lows in your relationship?
  • Feel misunderstood and misjudged way too often?

These are signs of emotional regulation difficulties often caused by ADHD. Think of the ADHD brain as a Ferrari—it’s fast, brilliant, and powerful, but without the right fuel and working breaks, it can feel scarily out of control.

2. Forgetfulness. Do these happen far too often …

  • Losing your car keys, phone, or important documents?
  • Forgetting birthdays, anniversaries, or promises?
  • Feeling like your partner thinks you don’t care anymore?

I know you care. But without the right tools, it’s hard to show it. Don’t worry—solutions are coming! Promise!

3. Time Management.  Are you …

  • Always running late—or obsessively early?
  • Often so absorbed in something you love that you lose track of time?
  • Frequently annoyed when interrupted and asked to do something boring?
  • Pulling all-nighters to finish things at the last minute?

These are common challenges in ADHD in relationships. Remember, ADHD can be exhausting, and it is okay to take time to recharge.

4. Sleep Struggles. Do these feel annoyingly familiar …

  • Watching “just one more episode” late into the night?
  • Struggling to fall asleep because your mind won’t stop racing?
  • Waking up grumpy and hitting snooze a million times?

That restless energy isn’t just in your body—it’s in your mind too.

5. Impulsive Decisions. Got a few of these regrets …

  • Buying gadgets, tools, or outfits you don’t need?
  • Saying things without thinking them through?
  • Starting hobbies or sports but losing interest quickly?

It’s like a pattern you can’t break even though you really try to.

6. Chore Challenges. Ugh … Let’s see ….

  • Scrolling your phone instead of starting boring chores?
  • Getting distracted halfway through and forgetting to finish?
  • Feeling bad when your partner complains about what you haven’t done?

If this sounds like you, it’s time to give your Ferrari brain the fuel it needs to thrive.
