It takes Courage …

Every time we choose COURAGE, we make everyone around us a little better and the world a little braver and our world could stand to be a little kinder and braver – Brene Brown.

I am in awe of the courage my clients bring, not only to my counselling room, but to their lives!

  • It takes courage …
  • to walk into a counsellor’s room … or join them in a zoom room.
  • to face the possibility that something might be wrong with you.
  • to stare down anxiety.
  • to fight to heal from childhood trauma.
  • to admit your addiction … or the behaviors you feel ashamed of.
  • to return time and again to the counselling room, feeling unsure and still needing help to make sustainable change in your life.
  • to stand up to bullying or abuse, at home or at work.
  • to ask to be valued and respected in a relationship
  • to put your all into a relationship, when you feel hurt and depleted.
  • to leave a relationship.
  • to believe you can change when all those around you would rather you didn’t – because if you change, then they might have to look at themselves!
  • to be truly vulnerable with yourself and a counsellor.

My heart truly melts with compassion, when a client finds the courage to share their vulnerability with me … at that moment I sit in humbled awe of their courage … and I share their belief in the possibility of a better future.

It takes a person’s courage to first contact me … but from that moment on, I add my courage to theirs … to help them book an appointment, step into my zoom room or through my counselling door, face their troubles, worries, fears, losses and issues, and to help them keep trying until they begin to create the relationships and life they once only had the courage to dream of.
